The advanced driving test
The Test takes about 90 minutes, covering 30 to 40 miles of all types of road, enabling you to demonstrate the skills that you have developed with your Observer. Open country roads can give the opportunity of progress at maximum safety, using optimum road positioning and excellent observation resulting in a brisk smooth drive, at the legal limit. Town centres will highlight your restraint and composure along with excellent observation to identify tricky hazards in a constantly changing environment.
You will be accompanied by an IAM Examiner. At the end of the test there will be a full de-brief of your strong and weak points. Whilst we as a Group have a very high pass rate that doesn't mean you can drive perfectly. Every drive, whether with an examiner or your observer is a potential learning experience.
